US power industry IT recruitment activity rises 5.0% in November 2021

The US’s power industry registered a 5.0% rise in IT hiring activity in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 3.72% in November 2021 when compared with October 2021.

Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.78% share in November 2021, recording an increase of 0.28% over the last three-month average share.

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.04% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s power industry in November 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 46.98% in November 2021, registering a 4.42% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed an 18.87% share, an increase of 14.84% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 14.18%, registering a 10.5% rise from October 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 13.29%, down 10.39% over the previous month.

Top five power companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 6.45% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s power industry during November 2021 over October 2021.

NextEra Energy posted 206 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a drop of 25.09% over the previous month, followed by PG&E with 106 jobs and a 28.86% drop. Duquesne Light with 95 IT jobs and Siemens with 80 jobs, recorded a 280% growth and a 27.27% decrease, respectively, while Schneider Electric recorded an increase of 71.74% with 79 job postings during November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 45.89%, down by 3.12% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 36.07% share, registered an increase of 15.64% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 17.78% share, up 4.92% over October 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.26%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
