The project was developed by ACWA Power Barka SAOG. The project is currently owned by International Company for Water and Power Projects with a stake of 41.91%, Instrata Capital and Multitech.
It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant that is used for Peakload.
The project cost is $415m.
The project got commissioned in June 2003.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Oman Power and Water Procurement under a power purchase agreement.
Ansaldo Energia, Enelpower and Hitachi Zosen were selected to render EPC services for the gas fired power project.
Siemens was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company supplied SGT5-2000E model gas turbines for the project.
Siemens supplied electric generator for the project.
Ansaldo Energia supplied steam boiler for the project.
The First National Operation & Maintenance is the O&M contractor for thermal power project.
