Description

The project is being developed by Amunet Wind Power. AMEA Power and Sumitomo are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 60% and 40% respectively.

The project is expected to generate 2,300,000MWh electricity and supply enough clean energy to power 800,000 households. The project is expected to offset 1,000,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

Development status

Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2025.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to Egyptian Electricity Transmission under a power purchase agreement. The power will be sold at the rate of $0.031kWh for a period of 25 years. The capacity to be procured is 500MW.

Contractors involved

Envision Energy and Power Construction Corporation of China are expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the wind power project.

Envision Energy will be the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The company is expected to provide 77 units of EN 171-6.5 turbines, each with 6.5MW nameplate capacity.

Envision Energy is expected to perform operations and maintenance for the wind power project for a period of 25 years.
