Arecibo Waste To Energy Plant is a 79MW biopower project. It is planned in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in single phase. Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2021.

Description
The project is being developed and currently owned by Energy Answers Arecibo.
The project is expected to generate 674.52MWh electricity and supply enough clean energy to power 76,000 households. The project cost is expected to be around $293.214m.
The process of combustion will be adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Industrial waste, municipal solid waste and wood by-product will be used as a feedstock to power the project.
The project consists of 1 turbine with 77MW nameplate capacity.
Development Status
Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2021.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority under a power purchase agreement. The offtake capacity is expected to be 67MW.
