The project got commissioned in 1970.

The power generated from the project is sold to Bangladesh Power Development Board under a power purchase agreement.

Hyundai Engineering was selected to render EPC services for the Ashuganj Thermal Power Station (Ashuganj Thermal Power Station Unit III) project. Hyundai Engineering was selected to render EPC services for the Ashuganj Thermal Power Station (Ashuganj Thermal Power Station Unit IV) project.
