T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in December 2019 with 291 tenders and a 50.8% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 105 tenders and an 18.3% share and Generation Equipment with 81 tenders and a 14.1% share during the month.
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 48 tenders and a 60% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 20 tenders and a 25% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: ten tenders and a 12.5% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: two tenders and a 2.5% share.
Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in December 2019
Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 55 tenders with a 67.9% share, followed by thermal with 16 tenders and a 19.8% share and hydro with seven tenders and an 8.6% share.

Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in December 2019: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of power plant tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 2,400MW from two tenders
- NTPC (India): 1,423.87MW from three tenders
- Ceylon Electricity Board (Sri Lanka): 96MW capacity from one tender.
