T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in Q2 2020 with 593 tenders and a 45.4% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 365 tenders and a 27.9% share and Power Plant with 177 tenders and a 13.5% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 152 tenders and an 85.9% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 14 tenders and a 7.9% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: ten tenders and a 5.6% share
  4. Supply & Erection: one tender and a 0.6% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in Q2 2020

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 151 tenders with an 86.8% share, followed by hydro with 15 tenders and an 8.6% share and wind with six tenders and a 3.4% share.

Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in Q2 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, India (India): 10,000MW from one tender
  2. NHPC (India): 2,930MW from two tenders
  3. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 2,525MW capacity from three tenders.
