T&D Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in Q4 2020 with 371 tenders and a 37.2% share, followed by T&D Project with 278 tenders and a 27.9% share and Power Plant with 208 tenders and a 20.9% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 168 tenders and an 80.8% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: 21 tenders and a 10.1% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 18 tenders and an 8.7% share
  4. Others: one tender and a 0.5% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in Q4 2020

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 178 tenders with an 84.4% share, followed by hydro with 18 tenders and an 8.5% share and wind with five tenders and a 2.4% share.

Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in Q4 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Andhra Pradesh Green Energy: 8,500MW from one tender
  2. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,220MW from two tenders
  3. Bangalore Electricity Supply (India): 1,060MW capacity from one tender.
