Askar Waste-to-Energy Project is a 25MW biopower project. It is planned in Southern, Bahrain. The project is currently in announced stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2024 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2025.

Description

The project is currently owned by Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.

The project cost is expected to be around $480m.

The process of landfill will be adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Refuse which is a kind of municipal solid waste will be used as a feedstock to power the project.

Development Status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2024. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2025.
