Avon Oil Fired Power Plant is a 670MW oil fired power project. It is located in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 2013 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in July 2016.

Description

The project was developed by Engie. Engie, Legend Power Solutions, Mitsui and The Peaker Trust are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 38%, 27%, 25% and 10% respectively.

It is a Gas Turbine power plant that is used for Peakload.

The project construction commenced in 2013 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in July 2016.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 15 years.

Contractors Involved

Ansaldo Energia and FATA EPC were selected to render EPC services for the oil fired power project.

Ansaldo Energia was selected as the turbine supplier for the Oil fired project. The company provided 4 units of AE94.2 gas turbines.

Ansaldo Energia supplied electric generator for the project.

Ansaldo Energia and Eskom Holdings SOC were contracted to render operations & maintenance services for the project.
