Azumi is a 623MW hydro power project. It is located on Azusagawa, Midonogawa river/basin in Nagano, Japan. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 1961 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1969.

The project is currently owned by Tokyo Electric Power Co Holdings.

Azumi is a pumped storage project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 123 million cubic meter. The net head of the project is 135.78m. Azumi underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2003.

The project has 6 electric generators installed at the site.

Toshiba Energy Systems and Solutions was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 4 units of francis turbines, each with 103MW nameplate capacity.
