Description

The project was developed by Copel Geracao e Transmissao, Elektro Holding and Neoenergia. Geracao Ceu Azul and Copel Geracao e Transmissao are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 70% and 30% respectively.

Baixo Iguacu is a reservoir based project. The gross head of the project is 16m. The project cost is $219.504m.

The project construction commenced in 2013 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2019.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Vale under a power purchase agreement with a contracted capacity is 183MW.

Contractors Involved

GE Renewable Energy and Novonor were selected to render EPC services for the hydro power project.

GE Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 3 units of kaplan turbines, each with 116.7MW nameplate capacity.

GE Renewable Energy supplied electric generator(s) for the project. The generator capacity is 129.7 MVA.
