Bansagar III Deolond is a run-of-river with pondage project. The net head of the project is 40m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 3 in number. The penstock diameter is 3.986m.

Bharat Heavy Electricals was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 3 units of kaplan turbines, each with 20MW nameplate capacity.
