Benban Ra Solar PV Park is a 32MW solar PV power project. It is located in Aswan, Egypt. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 2018 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in October 2019.

Description

The project is developed and owned by Voltalia.

Benban Ra Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project.

The project generates 68.6GWh electricity thereby offsetting 29,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $66.726m.

Development Status

The project construction commenced in 2018 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in October 2019.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Egyptian Electricity Transmission under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.071kWh for a period of 25 years, starting from 2017. The contracted capacity is 25MW.

Contractors Involved

Voltalia was selected to render EPC services for the solar PV power project.

Suntech Power Holdings was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company provided 93,150 modules each with 345W of nameplate capacity.

The inverters were procured from Power Electronics Espana for the project.

Voltalia is the O&M contractor for the solar PV power project.
