Briviesca Biomass Power Plant is a 16MW biopower project. It is located in Castile and León, Spain. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in September 2010.

The project was developed by GHESA Ingenieria y Tecnologia. Acciona Energia and Ente Regional de la Energia de Castilla y Leon are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 85% and 15% respectively.

The project generates 128GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 40,000 households, offsetting 123,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $64.07m.

Agricultural by-product and wood by-product are used as a feedstock to power the project.

Development Status

The project got commissioned in September 2010.

Contractors Involved

Franco Tosi Meccanica was selected as the steam turbine supplier for the project.
