Description
The project was developed by EL Sewedy Electric, Orascom Construction and Siemens. The project is currently owned by Egyptian Electricity Holding with a stake of 100%.
It is a combined cycle gas turbine (ccgt) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Light fuel Oil.
The project cost is $2,224.64m.

The project got commissioned in May 2018.
Contractors Involved
EL Sewedy Electric, Orascom Construction and Siemens were selected to render EPC services for the dual-fuel fired power project.
Siemens was selected as the turbine supplier for the Dual-Fuel fired project. The company provided 8 units of SGT5-8000H gas turbines, each with 400MW nameplate capacity.
Siemens was selected as the turbine supplier for the Dual-Fuel fired project. The company provided 4 units of SST-5000 steam turbines, each with 400MW nameplate capacity.
Siemens Heat Transfer Technology supplied steam boiler for the project.
Siemens is the O&M contractor for thermal power project for a period of 8 years.
