The project was developed by SunPower and is currently owned by Clearway Energy with a stake of 100%.
California Valley Solar Ranch is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 1,500 acres.
The project generates 650,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 100,000 households, offsetting 336,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $1,600m.
The project got commissioned in October 2012.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Pacific Gas and Electric under a power purchase agreement for a period of 25 years, starting from 2012.
Bechtel and SunPower were selected to render EPC services for the solar PV power project.
SunPower was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project.
