The project is developed and owned by Guodian Xinjiang Kaidu River Valley Hydro-power Developing. The company has a stake of 100%.

Chahanwusu is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 125 million cubic meter. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 2 in number. The project generated 1,081 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $241m.
