Development Status

The project got commissioned in May 2001.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Comision Federal de Electricidad under a power purchase agreement with a contracted capacity is 619MW.

Contractors Involved

Cobra Gestion de Infraestructuras, Dragados Industrial and Initec Energia were selected to render EPC services for the Chihuahua II (El Encino) Combined Cycle Power Plant (Chihuahua II CCGT Power Plant Phase II).

Chihuahua II (El Encino) Combined Cycle Power Plant (Chihuahua II CCGT Power Plant Phase I) is equipped with Mitsubishi Power gas turbines. The phase consists of 2 gas turbines, each with 138.15MW nameplate capacity.

Chihuahua II (El Encino) Combined Cycle Power Plant (Chihuahua II CCGT Power Plant Phase I) is equipped with Mitsubishi Power steam turbine. The phase consists of 1 steam turbine with 147MW nameplate capacity.

Chihuahua II (El Encino) Combined Cycle Power Plant (Chihuahua II CCGT Power Plant Phase II) is equipped with Siemens Energy gas turbine. The phase consists of 1 gas turbine with 130.8MW nameplate capacity.

Mitsubishi Power supplied electric generator for the Chihuahua II (El Encino) Combined Cycle Power Plant (Chihuahua II CCGT Power Plant Phase I).

Siemens Energy supplied electric generator for the Chihuahua II (El Encino) Combined Cycle Power Plant (Chihuahua II CCGT Power Plant Phase II).

Cerrey supplied steam boiler for the project.
