Chitan is a 100MW hydro power project. It is located on Jinxi river/basin in Fujian, China. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 1977 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1980.

Description

The project is developed and owned by China Huadian. The company has a stake of 100%.

Chitan is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 870 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project are 66.5m and 52.8m respectively. Chitan underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2006-2007. The project generated 500 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $125.05m.

Development Status

The project construction commenced in 1977 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1980.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to State Grid Corporation of China under a power purchase agreement.

Contractors Involved

Dongfang Electric was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 turbines, each with 50MW nameplate capacity.

Dongfang Electric supplied 2 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 50 MVA.
