The project is developed and owned by China Huadian. The company has a stake of 100%.
Chitan is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 870 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project are 66.5m and 52.8m respectively. Chitan underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2006-2007. The project generated 500 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $125.05m.

Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to State Grid Corporation of China under a power purchase agreement.
Contractors Involved
Dongfang Electric was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 turbines, each with 50MW nameplate capacity.
