The process of combustion has been adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Bagasse which is a kind of agricultural by-product is used as a feedstock to power the project.
The project got commissioned in December 2001.
Delta Biomass Power Plant (Delta Biomass Power Plant Phase I) is equipped with Siemens turbines. The phase consists of 2 turbines, each with 15MW nameplate capacity.
Delta Biomass Power Plant (Delta Biomass Power Plant Phase II) is equipped with Siemens SST600 turbine. The phase consists of 1 turbine with 73.4MW nameplate capacity.
Sumitomo SHI FW Energia supplied steam boiler for the project.WEG Industrias supplied the electric generator for the project.
