Description

The project is currently owned by Drax Power.

The project supplies enough clean energy to power 3,000,000 households, offsetting 3,000,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The process of combustion has been adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Wood pellets which is a kind of wood by-product is used as a feedstock to power the project.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Thames Water under a power purchase agreement for a period of 5 years, starting from 2015.
