Egmond aan Zee (OWEZ), Netherlands

Egmond aan Zee (OWEZ) is a 108MW offshore wind power project. The project is located in North Sea, North Holland, Netherlands. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 2006 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in October 2007.

The project was developed by NoordzeeWind and is currently owned by Shell WindEnergy with a stake of 100%.

The wind turbines in the project are installed on fixed foundations. An array of monopile foundations feature in the project.

The project generates 400,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 100,000 households, offsetting 140,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $456.84m.

The turbines installed on the project are using Tubular Steel towers.

Development Status

The project is currently active. The project construction commenced in 2006 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in October 2007.

Power Purchase Agreement

Shell Energy Europe and Vattenfall are the power offtakers from the project.

Contractors Involved

VOF Bouwcombinatie Egmond was selected to render EPC services for the wind power project.

Vestas Wind Systems was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The company provided 36 units of V90-3.0 MW turbines, each with 3MW nameplate capacity.

Vestas Wind Systems is the O&M contractor for the wind power project.
