Description
The project was developed by Emgesa. Grupo Energia Bogota and Enel Americas are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 51.51% and 48.48% respectively.
El Quimbo is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 3,200 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project is 125m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 2 in number. The penstock length is 400.87m. The project generated 2,216 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $1,200m.
