Garba Tawaghat, India

Garba Tawaghat is a 630MW hydro power project. It is planned on Sharda river/basin in Uttarakhand, India. The project is currently in announced stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2027 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2031.

Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by NHPC.

Garba Tawaghat is a run-of-river with pondage project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 5.29 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project will be 512m and 470.97m respectively. The project is expected to generate 2,449.38 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $896.893m.

The hydro power project consists of 3 turbines, each with 210MW nameplate capacity.

Development Status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2027. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2031.
