Description
The project was developed by Queensland Government. Rio Tinto Aluminium (Holdings), NRG Energy, SLMA GPS, Ryowa II GPS and YKK GPS (QUEENSLAND) are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 42.12%, 37.5%, 8.5%, 7.12% and 4.75% respectively.
It is a steam turbine power plant that is used for Baseload. The fuel is procured from Rolleston Mine, Boundary Hill/Callide Mine-s, Ensham Mine.
Development Status
The project construction commenced in 1971 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1976.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to CS Energy under a power purchase agreement.
Contractors Involved
Siemens was selected as the turbine supplier for thermal power project. The project consists of 6 units of 3 Cylinder, Single Stage Reheat turbines, each with 280MW nameplate capacity.
