Description

The project was developed by Orsted. Orsted, Development Bank of Japan and JERA are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 50.1%, 24.95% and 24.95% respectively.

The wind turbines in the Gunfleet Sands I are installed on fixed foundations. An array of monopile foundations feature in the phase.

The wind turbines in the Gunfleet Sands II are installed on fixed foundations. An array of monopile foundations feature in the phase.

The project generates 570,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 125,000 households, offsetting 480,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

Development status

The project is currently active. The project construction commenced in 2008 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in June 2010.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Statkraft under a power purchase agreement for a period of 2 years. The contracted capacity is 43.28MW.

Contractors involved

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The project consists of 48 units of SWT-3.6-107 turbines, each with 3.6MW nameplate capacity.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is the O&M contractor for the wind power project.
