Hirong is a 500MW hydro power project. It is planned on Siyom river/basin in Arunachal Pradesh, India. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2023 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2026.

Description
The project is being developed by Jaypee Arunachal Power. Jaiprakash Power Ventures and Government of Arunachal Pradesh are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 89% and 11% respectively.
Hirong is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 19.39 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project will be 336.75m and 314m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 2 in number. The penstock length will be 383m. The penstock diameter will be 4.25m. The project is expected to generate 2,228.28 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $828.071m.
The hydro power project consists of 4 turbines, each with 125MW nameplate capacity.
The project will have 4 electric generators installed at the project site. The generator capacity is likely to be 139 MVA.
Development Status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2023. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2026.
