The project is currently owned by Assam Power Generation.

Karbi Langpi is a run-of-river project. The net head of the project is 239m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 2 in number. The penstock length is 627.9m. The penstock diameter is 2.6m. The project generated 390 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $160.5m.

Development Status

The project construction commenced in 2004 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2007.

Contractors Involved

Voith Hydro Holding was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of francis turbines, each with 50MW nameplate capacity.

Voith Hydro Holding supplied 2 electric generators for the project.
