Description

The project is developed and owned by Kawailoa Wind.

The project supplies enough clean energy to power 14,500 households, offsetting 134,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $149.661m.

The project has 99.5m high towers.

The project is currently active. The project got commissioned in November 2012.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Hawaiian Electric under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years from 2012. The contracted capacity is 69MW.

Contractors Involved

Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives was selected to render EPC services for the wind power project.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The company provided 30 units of SWT-2.3-101 turbines, each with 2.3MW nameplate capacity.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is the O&M contractor for the wind power project for a period of 10 years.
