Kettle is a 1,220MW hydro power project. It is located on Nelson river/basin in Manitoba, Canada. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 1966 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1970.

The project is currently owned by Manitoba Hydro-Electric Board with a stake of 100%.

Kettle is a run-of-river project. The net head of the project is 30m. The project generated 7,070 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $240m.

Development Status

The project construction commenced in 1966 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1970.

Contractors Involved

Dominion Engineering Works was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 12 turbines, each with 102MW nameplate capacity.

Mitsui supplied 12 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 120 MVA.
