Kholongchu is a 600MW hydro power project. It is planned on Kholongchu river/basin in Trashiyangtse, Bhutan. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in single phase. Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2023.

Kholongchu is a run-of-river project. The net head of the project will be 761.53m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 2 in number. The project is expected to generate 2,568.88 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $590.776m.
The hydro power project consists of 4 turbines, each with 150MW nameplate capacity.
Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2023.
