Laxiwa, China

Laxiwa is a 4,200MW hydro power project. It is located on Yellow river/basin in Qinghai, China. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 2001 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2008.

The project was developed by Upper Yellow River Hydropower Development and is currently owned by State Power Investment.

The hydro reservoir capacity is 1,079 million cubic meter. The net head of the project is 205m. The project generated 10,223 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $2,270m.

Development Status

The project construction commenced in 2001 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2008.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to North China Grid under a power purchase agreement.

Contractors Involved

Voith Hydro Shanghai was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 6 units of francis turbines, each with 700MW nameplate capacity.

Harbin Electric Machinery supplied electric generator(s) for the project. The generator capacity is 757 MVA.
