The project is currently owned by Electricite de France with a stake of 100%.

Le Cheylas is a pumped storage project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 4.8 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project is 256m. The project generated 750 GWh of electricity.

GE Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of pump turbines, each with 250MW nameplate capacity.
