Lotru-Ciunget is a reservoir based project. The gross head of the project is 809m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 1 in number. The penstock length is 1,320m. Lotru-Ciunget underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2007-2011. The project generated 750 GWh of electricity.

UCM Resita was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 3 units of pelton turbines, each with 174.25MW nameplate capacity.

Hydro Engineering supplied 3 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 185 MVA.
