Description

EDP – Energias do Brasil, Companhia Energetica de Brasilia, Paulista Lajeado Energia and Investco Financial are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 72.27%, 19.8%, 6.93% and 1% respectively.

Luis Eduardo Magalhaes is a run-of-river project. The net head of the project is 29m. The project generated 4,468 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $496.354m.

Development Status

The project construction commenced in 1998 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2001.

Contractors Involved

Voith Hydro Holding was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 5 units of kaplan turbines, each with 180.5MW nameplate capacity.

Siemens supplied 5 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 190 MVA.
