The Lusulu Thermal Power Plant is 2,100MW coal fired power project. It is planned in Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in multiple phases. The project construction is likely to commence in 2022 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2024.

Description
The project is being developed and currently owned by PER Lusulu Power.
It is a steam turbine power plant. The fuel will be procured from Hwange Colliery Co Ltd.
Development Status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2022. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2024.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the Lusulu Thermal Power Plant (Lusulu Thermal Power Plant Phase IA) will be sold to Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission under a power purchase agreement.
Contractors Involved
China State Construction Engineering is expected to render EPC services for the coal fired power project.
PER Lusulu Power is expected to perform operations and maintenance for thermal power project.
