The Mchuchuma Power Plant is 600MW coal fired power project. It is planned in Iringa, Tanzania. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in multiple phases. The project construction is likely to commence in 2023 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2024.

Description

The project is being developed by Tanzania China International Mineral Resources. Sichuan Hongda and National Development Corporation, Tanzania are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 80% and 20% respectively.

It is a steam turbine power plant. The fuel will be procured from Mchuchuma Coal Mine.

The project cost is expected to be around $1,300m.
