T&D Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Middle East and Africa region in Q1 2021 with 282 tenders and a 50.4% share, followed by Power Plant with 97 tenders and a 17.3% share and T&D Project with 88 tenders and a 15.7% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 48 tenders and a 73.8% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 16 tenders and a 24.6% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: one tender and a 1.5% share.

Thermal is top technology for Middle East and Africa generation equipment tenders in Q1 2021

Looking at generation equipment tenders by the type of technology in the Middle East and Africa region, thermal accounted for 44 tenders with a 64.7% share, followed by solar with 22 tenders and a 32.4% share and geothermal with one tender and a 1.5% share.
