Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Middle East and Africa region in November 2020 with 31 tenders and a 34.1% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 23 tenders and a 25.3% share and T&D Equipment with 23 tenders and a 25.3% share during the month.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 26 tenders and an 83.9% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: four tenders and a 12.9% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one tender and a 3.2% share.

Solar is top technology for Middle East and Africa power plant tenders in November 2020

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Middle East and Africa region, solar accounted for 27 tenders with an 87.1% share, followed by hydro with three tenders and a 9.7% share and thermal with one tender and a 3.2% share.

Middle East and Africa power plant tenders in November 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Middle East and Africa were:

  1. DT Global and The Office of Civil Aviation and Airports: 5MW from one tender
  2. United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (Switzerland): 1.9MW from four tenders
  3. Eswatini Civil Aviation Authority: 0.85MW capacity from one tender.
