Miravalles is a 162.7MW geothermal power project. It is located in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The project is currently active. It has been developed in multiple phases. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in March 1994.

Description
The project was developed by Geoenergia de Guanacaste and Ormat Technologies. The project is currently owned by Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad.
The geothermal plant is of hybrid type. The geothermal site has in total 52 number of wells. Out of this 32 are production wells and remaining 20 are injection wells.
The project generates 1,145GWh of electricity.

The project got commissioned in March 1994.

Mitsubishi was selected to render EPC services for the Miravalles (Miravalles Unit 3) project.Ormat Technologies was selected to render EPC services for the Miravalles (Miravalles Unit 5) project.
Miravalles (Miravalles Unit 1) is equipped with Toshiba Energy Systems and Solutions Single cylinder, double flow, condensing turbines.
Miravalles (Miravalles Unit 2) is equipped with Ansaldo Energia turbines.
Miravalles (Miravalles Unit 3) is equipped with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries turbines.
Miravalles (Miravalles Unit 5) is equipped with Ormat Technologies turbines.
Miravalles (Miravalles Wellhead Unit 1) is equipped with Toshiba Energy Systems and Solutions turbines.
