The Nam Dinh Thermal Power Plant I is 1,200MW coal fired power project. It is planned in Nam Dinh, Vietnam. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in multiple phases. Description
The project is being developed and currently owned by International Company for Water and Power Projects and Taekwangpower Holdings. The company’s ownership stake in the project stands as 50% and 45% respectively.
It is a steam turbine power plant. The fuel will be procured from Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group(Vinacomin).
The project cost is expected to be around $2,300m.
The Coal fired project consists of 2 steam turbines, each with 600MW nameplate capacity.
Development Status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2024. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2026.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Vietnam Electricity under a power purchase agreement for a period of 25 years. The offtake capacity is expected to be 1,109.4MW.
Contractors Involved
China Gezhouba Group International Engineering and POSCO Engineering & Construction are expected to render EPC services for the coal fired power project.
Taekwangpower Holdings and The First National Operation & Maintenance are expected to be contracted for rendering of operations & maintenance services for the project.
