Naopha, Myanmar

Naopha is a 1,200MW hydro power project. It is planned on Thanlwin Mainstem river/basin in Shan, Myanmar. The project is currently in announced stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2022 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2026.

Description

The project is being developed by Hydrochina and IGE Group of Companies. Hydrochina, IGE Group of Companies and Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Myanmar are currently owning the project.

Naopha is a run-of-river project. The project is expected to generate 6,182 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $2,217.12m.

The hydro power project consists of 6 turbines, each with 200MW nameplate capacity.

The project construction is expected to commence from 2022. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2026.
