New Bong Escape, Pakistan

New Bong Escape is an 84MW hydro power project. It is located on Bong Canal/Jhelum river/basin in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 2009 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2013.

Description

The project is developed and owned by Laraib Energy.

New Bong Escape is a run-of-river project. The project generated 540 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $235m.

The nameplate capacity of electric generator(s) installed at the site is 23 MVA.

The project construction commenced in 2009 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2013.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to National Transmission & Despatch under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.854kWh for a period of 25 years. The contracted capacity is 84MW.

Contractors Involved

Sambu Construction was selected to render EPC services for the hydro power project.

Andritz Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 4 units of bulb turbines, each with 21MW nameplate capacity.

TNB Remaco Pakistan Private is the O&M contractor for the hydro power project.
