France-based Areva has won a contract from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), a subsidiary of Korea Electric Power, to supply and replace six stators for the Kori nuclear power plant (NPP).
Under the terms of the contract, Areva will be responsible for designing and manufacturing six stators at the Jeumont facility in northen France for Units 3 and 4 of the Kori NPP plant.

According to Areva, the supply and replacement activities would start in June 2015 and be completed in 2018.
The new contract is said to be part of Areva’s Forward Alliance programme developed for the optimisation of nuclear power plants safety and long-term operations.
Areva said the stators will insure the reliability of the reactor coolant pump designed for the safe and efficient operation of the reactor’s primary circuit.
Areva Installed Base Business Division executive vice-president Philippe Samama said the company provides KHNP with a range of solutions for the safety and the modernisation of nuclear reactors.
