Initec Energía, in joint venture Cobra and Dragados, has been awarded a €265m contract by Endesa for the construction and commissioning of a 450MW combined cycle power plant in Great Island, Ireland.
The Great Island project will replace the existing fuel-oil operating plant.
Combined cycle technology eliminates the emission of sulfur and particles, dramatically decreases the emission of NOx and reduces 60% CO2 emissions.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will supply the equipment for the power train, including turbines, a generator and condenser. Nooter/Eriksen will provide the boiler.
The project is scheduled to be complete within a deadline of 27 months.
Initec Energía, Cobra and Dragados, all are subsidiaries of Grupo ACS.
