Manz Automation, a Germany-based photovoltaic technology provider, has signed a letter of intent to acquire CIGS modules innovation line from Würth Solar in the German state of Baden-Württemberg.

Manz plans to integrate the current production site, and a total of 118 employees of Würth Solar, into its own Group as part of the acquisition.

The main objective is to establish an innovation factory that focuses on the rapid further development of already leading CIGS technology.

The Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research will carry out the research and development.

The deal is expected to be finalised by early 2012.
