Siemens has received an order from Fuji Electric for two H-Class gas turbines for the combined cycle power plant of Kobe Steel (KOBELCO) in Moka City, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.
Fuji Electric is responsible for construction of the plant on a turnkey basis.

Under the contract, Siemens will deliver two 400MW-capacity SGT5-8000H gas turbines for the plant, as well as associated auxiliary systems.
Located 50km inland from the shore of Pacific Ocean and equipped with an air-cooled condenser, the facility is expected to start operations by the end of 2019.
The power plant has yet to receive approval for environmental impact assessment, which is expected to be granted in mid-2016.
Siemens power and gas division CEO Roland Fischer said: “We are pleased that we have now been able to enter onto the Japanese market with our innovative and yet extensively proven gas turbine after selling them in South Korea, Malaysia and the Philippines.

As of the end of September, the H-Class turbines from Siemens have recorded more than 100,000 equivalent operating hours.
The company has sold 41 of the models globally, with 13 currently part of commercial operations in power plants.
