The project was developed by JSC "Gidroenergostroy" and is currently owned by JSC "Generation Company".

Nizhnekamskaya is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 13,800 million cubic meter. The net head of the project is 12.4m. The project generated 2,670 GWh of electricity.
