T&D Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the North America region in Q1 2020 with 250 tenders and a 48.6% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 159 tenders and a 30.9% share and Energy Storage with 44 tenders and an 8.6% share during the quarter.
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 35 tenders and a 92.1% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: two tenders and a 5.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one tender and a 2.6% share.
Solar is top technology for North America power plant tenders in Q1 2020
Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the North America region, solar accounted for 32 tenders with a 76.2% share, followed by wind with seven tenders and a 16.7% share and thermal with one tender and a 2.4% share.

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:
- New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (United States): 6,400MW from five tenders
- Appalachian Power (United States): 200MW from one tender
